The Proper Way to Clean an LCD Screen

Too many times have I seen people spray a cleaning solution right onto their LCD screens which makes me cringe. Depending on the cleaning solution it can also cause the LCD screen to look smeared and foggy. There is a better way and whenever I get a chance I stop and show my customers, friends and folks the proper way to clean their LCD Screen.

First off, you must turn OFF the monitor or Shut Down the Laptop before proceeding to clean.

Next, you will need a micro-fiber cloth, just like the ones used to clean eyeglasses, and a spray solution. The simplest spray solution is the same solution used to clean eyeglasses. If you don't have any eyeglass cleaning solution then you can prepare a 50-50 mixture of Isopropyl Alcohol and DISTILLED Water. NOTE: It MUST be Distilled Water.

Now for the cleaning procedure. Spray the solution ON the Micro-Fiber CLOTH, NOT on the LCD Screen itself. Then wipe the screen until all foreign material has been removed. Repeat as necessary until the screen is clean.

Wait a few minutes, then turn the screen or notebook computer back on and the display will look much better.

That's all there is to it. Now that you can see clearly, Happy Computing!
