More and more, people are setting up web sites today for their business or personal use. Merchant Solutions.  Our Knickknacks is such an online store that is hosted by Yahoo! Merchant Solutions.

A web site can be used for many purposes.  One of our customers lists the Dental Practices that they are selling for their clients and as new listings arrive, they are posted on the web site for Dentists to preview and consider.  As the Dental practices are sold, the listings are marked as such and eventually removed to make room for new listings.  This type of web site use could be referred to as a Classified Web Site for sales purposes.

Other sites are designed as informational sites much like this web page that you are reading now.  Many sites provide technical information, such as, web site tools like javascript, etc.  News web sites provide up to the moment information like breaking news and weather advisories.  Then there are the blogs, which is an internet acronym for web logs, that have become all the rage and are raging the internet like a contextual blight.

Everyone wants and should be able to have their own piece of the internet.  Family web sites let Moms and Dads keep in touch with their children that have married and moved away.  These Personal web sites are a great way to exchange photos and maintain family photo albums online.  They can also be secured so that only the family can access their information.

What this all boils down to is that the internet is a communication medium that is free and available to anyone.  Okay, the web site design isn't usually free unless you do it yourself, and the web site hosting will cost a few dollars a month, but the ability to exchange information using a web site, the ability to sell your goods and wares using an online store is the most incredible amount of communication freedom that we could have.  It is also the most far reaching communication ability that we have ever had as individuals as well as business owners.
